"You couldn't get a male to work with a woman (principal) because you were considered a feminist. I could not have been Gail Havig Real Estate in those days." Through Gail's experience she developed her own views of what makes a successful agent. "I think if one deals knowledgeably and intelligently, one will be a success. "I think particularly in real estate, women know what other women want." While the number of women and their level of acceptance in the profession has certainly changed, the basic foundations for success - determination, hard work and empathy - remain the same for female agents today. Amanda Waters, agent from LJ Hooker Aspley and member of the L J Hooker Captain's Club Multi Million Dollar Chapter; and Angela Capitanio, multiple award winner and inductee of the local hall of fame, from Ray White Cairns Central, are two women whose success encompasses these very fundamentals. "On the suggestion of a friend I applied for a sales position to prove to my family and my friends I could forge a successful career after suddenly losing my husband," Angela said. "At rst there was no desk for me. I started working from a tea room and when I had proved myself I was promoted to a real desk."
