REIQ Journal : August 2008
INDUSTRY NEWS 13 when he started with a major real estate franchisor as a sales trainer, business development associate and then State CEO in 1992. Kevin has also operated a number of real estate offices as business owner and was general manager of a number of real estate offices in Christchurch, New Zealand with a sales force of 120 people. As well as producing a half-hour show for Sydney’s 2UE on Thursday afternoons, a new national version of the real estate show was launched on over 40 stations around regional Australia – from Cairns to Perth including Tasmania – in June. The show, called Property Matters, is a mix of real estate advice, property appraisals and music broadcast on AM and FM stations every Sunday between 9 and 10am. The show is the first of its kind in Australia with local, state and national segments all featured in the hour-long broadcast. “We have content unique for every market that we broadcast to. We also have a segment where local agents can feature their properties,” he says. “The State-based segments are where I would talk to [REIQ managing director] DanMolloy for example and the national segments are more generic in that I don’t just talk to real estate people. I’ve had Dawn Fraser and Don Burke on the show.” Property Matters has more than 100 segments in total, which takes three people some 60 hours per week, including a full-day recording in the studio, to package together. And with plans to take the show on the road every six weeks – starting in Cairns – Kevin remains a very busy man. Spend a few hours with him, though, and it’s easy to see that he wouldn’t have it any other way. “4BC have been fabulous with me doing the two shows. I’m very lucky to have been able to do them both. I’m also still doing about three auctions a month and am a consultant for Raine and Horne. The minute you remove yourself from the market, you lose touch.” For more information on Real Estate Talk and Property Matters go to www.realestatetalk.com.au Ezirentpay What are you waiting for?
