The report, undertaken by Colliers International senior analyst Lynda Campbell, found high-rise apartment sales accounted for 394 unconditional sales across 29 developments in the March 2008 quarter. Eleven of these projects had an average price of over $2 million and were situated on prime sites by – or within walking distance of – the beach, Broadwater or esplanade. High-rise sales figures in the March 2008 quarter were more than double those for the previous quarter and the highest number of sales recorded in the high-rise sector since the survey began in December 1996. Across the board, 577 sales were achieved, with a gross sales value of $470 million across 75 developments stretching from Cabarita in the south to Hope Island on the Gold Coast’s North Shore. Riparian rises again Brisbane’s Riparian Plaza was announced the overall winner of the 2008 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards recently. Riparian Plaza also won the National Award for Innovation and Excellence in Mixed Use Development, which was open to inspiring developments that exhibited innovation and excellence in design and development of a building of at least three substantive uses. Riparian Plaza surpassed a distinguished field of 12 category award winners to take out the top honour. REIQ Journal July 2008
